Alex himself is an avid fly fisher who discovered his family‘s passion for art and translated it to leather working. After decades in hi tech executive roles he relocated to Ennis Montana and today pursues his passion for detail and creativity. Alex believes that art should be functional and that leather should live a life. At Hammer Leather Designs we don’t cut corners. All our pieces are hand stitched, which allows us to do designs that just can’t be done by machine. The resulting heirloom pieces are true works of art. Alex oils his personal rod tube with Neatsfoot oil once a year. Over time our pieces develop a wonderful patina that is unique to each owner and the life of the piece.
